Radon analysis
Radon measurement for homes, businesses, premises, and buildings in areas with potential exposure.
WHAT IS RADON AND WHY SHOULD IT BE MEASURED?
Radon is a natural radioactive gas generated in the subsoil that can infiltrate homes, workplaces, premises, and buildings. As it is an invisible, odorless, and tasteless gas, it cannot be detected without a specific measurement.
Its presence depends on factors such as the geological composition of the terrain, the construction characteristics of the building, contact with the ground, ventilation, and possible entry routes from the subsoil. The WHO indicates that radon concentrations can vary greatly between nearby buildings and even within the same home, which is why it recommends performing measurements according to appropriate protocols.
HOW CAN IT AFFECT HEALTH?
Prolonged exposure to high concentrations of radon is associated with an increased risk of lung cancer. The WHO considers radon one of the main causes of lung cancer and notes that the risk increases especially in smokers due to the combined effect of radon and tobacco.
The risk depends mainly on three factors: concentration, exposure time, and the existence of other risk factors.
For this reason, radon measurement is especially recommended in homes, workplaces, premises, ground floors, basements, and buildings located in areas with higher radon potential.
Radon map by municipality
Check the radon potential of your municipality and assess whether it might be advisable to perform a measurement in your home, premises, or building.
The map provides guidance on the potential of an area, but measurement is the only way to know the actual radon concentration in a property.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can I know if there is radon in my home? The only way to know if there is radon in a home is to perform a specific measurement. The radon map indicates the potential of the area, but does not measure the actual concentration inside the property.
When is it advisable to measure radon? It is advisable to measure radon in homes, premises, or buildings located in areas with radon potential, especially on ground floors, basements, enclosed spaces, or areas with poor ventilation.
What is the difference between radon in air and radon in water? Radon analysis in air measures the concentration of the gas in indoor spaces. Radon analysis in water assesses the possible presence of radon in water samples, especially in groundwater, wells, or water sources.
Does the radon map replace a measurement? No. The map serves as territorial guidance. To know the actual radon level in a home, business, or building, it is necessary to perform a measurement.
What result does radon analysis in air provide? The result is usually expressed in Bq/m³ and indicates the radon concentration detected during the measurement period.
