Blood Vitamin Test

The Blood Vitamin Test precisely quantifies various water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, as well as carotenoids in the extended profile. It is a useful analytical tool to assess nutritional status and provide objective information within the context of a clinical, nutritional, or functional evaluation.

The study is performed using high-sensitivity and specificity techniques, such as HPLC, LC-MS/MS, EIA, and immunochemiluminescence, depending on the specific analysis.

What does this analysis provide?

Vitamins participate in multiple bodily processes, such as energy metabolism, immune function, the nervous system, antioxidant protection, skin health, and tissue maintenance.

This analysis helps identify potential imbalances or insufficient levels of vitamins and related compounds, facilitating a more comprehensive assessment of the patient’s nutritional status.

When might it be indicated?

This test can be useful as analytical support in cases of:

  • Nutritional evaluation in clinical, nutritional, or integrative consultations.
  • Monitoring of restrictive, vegetarian, vegan, or low-variety diets.
  • Assessment of possible imbalances associated with fatigue, low performance, skin alterations, or changes in immunity.
  • Monitoring of patients with supplementation prescribed by a professional.
  • Study of vitamins that act as enzymatic cofactors in key metabolic processes.
  • More complete evaluation of antioxidant status through carotenoids, in the case of the extended profile.

Available profiles

Basic Profile:

Quantifies the main water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, including B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamins A, D, E, K, and coenzyme Q10. Recommended for a general assessment of vitamin status.

Extended Profile:

Includes the determinations of the basic profile with specific additions, such as erythrocyte folic acid, holotranscobalamin, additional forms of vitamin D, and carotenoid measurement.

Recommended when a more comprehensive nutritional evaluation is sought.

Results should always be interpreted within a clinical context, taking into account the patient’s history, diet, supplementation, medication, and the reason for requesting the analysis.
