Erythrocyte Metals

Erythrocyte metal analysis is a laboratory test designed to measure the concentration of specific metals within erythrocytes, or red blood cells. This type of analysis is especially useful for evaluating long-term exposure to metals, as erythrocytes can provide a more accurate indication of chronic body burdens of metals than measurements in whole blood or plasma, which reflect more recent exposures.
