The Lytic/Latent Cellular Response. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) profile consists of exposing a cell suspension (PBMCs) to protein extracts of the virus in the lytic or latent phase and assessing the release of Interferon Gamma (IFN-γ) produced by T lymphocytes.

Using ELISPOT methodology

  • Lymphocyte typing: Leukocytes, Lymphocytes, T Lymphocytes, T4/T8 Ratio
  • Antibodies: CMV IgG, CMV IgM, CMV IgG avidity
  • T-lymphocyte IFN-γ production: to lytic antigens (IE1 (Immediate Early 1)) and latent antigens (pp65)
  • Conclusion on immunological memory and viral control, active or recent infections, and possible viral reactivation
