Combined study for the detection of high- and low-risk HPV virus by PCR and cervicovaginal liquid cytology.
This is a combined test performed on cervicovaginal samples preserved in ThinPrep medium. The presence of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and its genotype are evaluated by PCR (high or low risk), as well as a cytological study to rule out the presence of cytological atypia of epithelial cells.
Screen for vaginal cervix lesions as a prevention of cancers caused in these areas by HPV virus infections.
- HPV Genotyping by PCR (28 high- and low-risk subtypes):
– High risk: 16, 18, 26, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 53, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68, 69, 73 and 82.
– Low risk: 6, 11, 40, 42, 43, 44, 54, 61 and 70.
- Cervico-vaginal Liquid Cytology, which assesses atypia in epithelial cells
