The GNT. Factor II analyzes the G20210A genetic variant of the F2 gene, associated with increased production of prothrombin, an essential protein in the coagulation cascade. Prothrombin (Factor II) is the precursor of thrombin, a key enzyme involved in fibrin formation and in regulating the balance between coagulation and anticoagulation. This genetic variant may increase the risk of thrombotic complications, especially in combination with environmental or hormonal factors.
This test requires a doctor’s prescription. The requesting healthcare professional must ensure that the patient receives appropriate information and genetic counseling, as well as correct clinical interpretation of the results.
