The GNT. Alzheimer identifies the ApoE genotype to assess genetic influence on lipid metabolism and susceptibility to Alzheimer’s disease and cardiovascular risk. ApoE variants (isoforms) modulate cholesterol and triglyceride transport and may modify the relative risk of cognitive decline and dyslipidemia.
Its purpose is to provide useful genetic information for cognitive and cardiovascular risk stratification and to guide prevention strategies and lifestyle.
This test requires medical prescription. The requesting healthcare professional must ensure that the patient receives appropriate genetic information and counseling, as well as correct clinical interpretation of the results.
