The GNT. Polycythemia Vera JAK2 evaluates the presence of the V617F variant in the JAK2 gene, associated with myeloproliferative neoplasms and, characteristically, with polycythemia vera (PV).
This test requires a medical prescription. The requesting healthcare professional must ensure that the patient receives adequate genetic information and counseling, as well as the correct clinical interpretation of the results.
- Patients with erythrocytosis/elevated hematocrit and suspected myeloproliferative neoplasm.
- Diagnostic differentiation between polycythemia vera and secondary erythrocytosis (hypoxia, tobacco, drugs/EPO, sleep apnea, etc.).
