The IgG antibodies profile against Borrelia burgdorferi is used in the study of Lyme disease, an infection transmitted by ticks. The presence of IgG antibodies usually indicates infection in a more advanced stage or past exposure, as they appear weeks after infection and tend to remain over time.
- Diagnosis of Lyme disease in late or chronic stages.
- Evaluation of patients with a history of compatible symptoms (arthritis, neurological or cardiac manifestations).
- Monitoring in combination with IgM and other confirmatory tests.
