The GNT. MTHFR evaluates variants of the MTHFR gene that affect the activity of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase enzyme, which is key in folate metabolism and in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. Lower enzyme activity can raise homocysteine levels and affect cardiovascular, neurological, and reproductive processes.
Its objective is to identify the genetic predisposition to alterations in folate and homocysteine metabolism in order to guide personalized nutrition and prevention strategies.
