The BASIC profile of the Organic Acids Test is a study of metabolites in urine that allows for the assessment of metabolic pathways of the different microbiomes in our body (oral, intestinal, dermal, vaginal, and/or seminal). The techniques used are LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and HPLC.
- BACTERIAL OA: indoleacetic, phenylacetic, o-hydroxyphenylacetic, p-hydroxyphenylacetic, p-hydroxybenzoic, benzoic, hippuric, 2-hydroxyhippuric, 4-hydroxyhippuric, paracresol, and HPHPA.
- FUNGAL OA: arabinose, arabinitol, tartaric, tricarballylic, cit
ramalic, 5-hydroxymethyl-2- furoic, furan 2,5-dicarboxylic, and furancarbonylglycine
Test not suitable for patients under 3 years of age due to limitations associated with creatinine levels. Tests with urine creatinine <0.3 g/L or >3.0 g/L are cancelled.
- Do not ingest liquids after 8:00 PM on the day before sample collection.
- AVOID sample collection during the menstrual period.
- 2 days before AVOID alcohol intake and excessive coffee.
- 3 days before PAUSE the intake of nutritional supplements such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, omegas…
- 15 days before STOP taking antibiotics, antifungals, and probiotics.
- In the case of medication, consult with the requesting party and note it on the questionnaire
SPECIAL Diet: Avoid the intake of apples, grapes, raisins, pears, blueberries, and their derived products 48 hours before sample collection.
