suPAR (soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor) is a biomarker related to chronic activation of the innate immune system, systemic inflammation, and long-term biological risk. It is considered a global marker of sustained inflammatory burden, especially useful in contexts where classic markers do not fully reflect the patient’s clinical situation.
Associated Processes:
- Reflects chronic activation of the innate immune system
- Allows assessment of low and high-grade systemic inflammation
- Associated with endothelial damage and incipient organ dysfunction
- Provides information on sustained inflammatory burden over time
- Can aid in risk stratification for complex patients
suPAR determination can provide relevant information in the context of:
- Evaluating chronic inflammatory burden
- Stratifying risk in complex patients
- Monitoring biological evolution over time
- Complementing other clinical and analytical markers in a comprehensive assessment
