Microbiological study of a vaginal sample to detect and identify clinically relevant microorganisms, such as yeasts, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and other bacteria associated with vaginal infections.
- MICROSCOPIC EXAMINATION: Assessment of leukocytes, detection of clue cells, observation of yeasts and detection of Trichomonas vaginalis. Includes assessment of the vaginal microbiota using the Nugent score, classifying the result as: normal, intermediate, or consistent with bacterial vaginosis.
- MICROBIOLOGICAL CULTURE: Bacterial and fungal culture to detect and identify yeasts, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and other clinically relevant microorganisms: Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, among others…
Includes an antibiogram when a microorganism suitable for testing is isolated.
